About Area

Situated on the Tropic of Capricorn, and experiencing 300 days of sunshine a year,Rockhampton (or Rocky, as it is affectionately known) is one of Australia’s most liveable cities. Known as the Beef Capital of Australia, Rockhampton is a thriving regional centre of Queensland, and a gateway to the beautiful beaches of the Capricorn Coast , and the mines, gem fields and rural hinterland of the central highlands. Rockhampton operates as a service community for the Central Queensland region, and with a population of 78,000 people, it is a modern city, offering rich opportunities for future investment.

Situated along the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River, the second largest river catchment system in Australia, Rockhampton has a rich history dating back to settlement in 1854. The heart of Rockhampton is filled with rich architecture lovingly restored and preserved, as part of  the city’s vision for an Arts and Culture precinct on the Southside of Rockhampton. The rich history of the south side of Rockhampton is complemented by the majestic Range which sports many of the finest colonial masterpieces Queensland has to offer. Adding to the delights of the Southside of Rockhampton are the new riverside multistorey unit dwellings, enabling many more people to enjoy the Fitzroy as it makes its way to the sea.

Either of the two bridges across the Fitzroy, known as the “old bridge” or the “new bridge”, will bring visitors to the hustle and bustle of the commercial centre of Rockhampton, on the northern side of the river. Development here is brisk, with a range of commercial developments constantly underway. On the northern side of the river, under ancient and picturesque Mt Archer, are the beautiful northern suburbs, with new housing developments opening to accommodate continuing growth in the Rockhampton region.

Rockhampton offers the laid back lifestyle of the country with all the advantages of urban living. With a domestic airport, its own university, theatre, art-galleries and high-rise apartment living, Rockhampton holds its own with any urban centre, yet there are also the delights of country and suburban living for those who prefer a slower pace.

Its liveability, and the wealth generated by the beef industry and mining sectors, a vibrant tourism sector and a solid residential and rental market, guarantee that investment in Rockhampton is steady and secure, and promises to generate a solid return well into the future.
